Cornwall Pride 2010

Cornwall Pride 2010 - Saturday 28th August

Cornwall Pride logoThe third Cornwall Pride was held in the city of Truro on Saturday August 28th

Cornwall Gay Pride 2010 picnic in the parkThe Parade kicked off at 11am  meandering through the streets of the city centre ending at Victoria Gardens for the afternoon picnic.

It was amazing to see so many people come out on the streets of Truro in support of pride, many wishing a 'great gay day' and it really was gay day in Truro pride goers seemed to mingle between the gardens and the city centre throughout the afternoon.

The weather couldn't have been better glorious sunshine all day, the line up of non stop entertainment in the park was fantastic there was never a dull moment. The whole day ran very smoothly the organisers and everybody that helped make Cornwall Pride this huge success should be thoroughly proud of their achievements. The evening party in the marquee headlined by Lisa Scott-Lee sounded fantastic with a stunning light show.

Gay Boat Trip Update

Pride in Plymouth are proud to announce that the combined profit from the boat trip and raffle has raised £225 for the Eddystone Trust.

Pride in Plymouth Gay Boat Trip 2010We would like to thank all the lovely people that supported this event, the weather was against us but those that came aboard the 'Devon Belle' on Friday 20th August had a great time. We would also like to thank Hawkins Meeting House for doing such a good job selling tickets and providing a much needed buffet for when we arrived back on land.

Our benefactor the Eddystone Trust provided some goodies including LED torch key rings, lolly pops and safer sex packs.

Due to the unseasonal weather the boat couldn't land at Cawsand therefore they took us through the calmer waters of the Hamoaze and up the River Tamer. Just crossing the sound was a bit choppy which added to the fun - though not for the few people that got soaked. The loo was interesting a proper boat bog that required pumping.

Blow the Whistle on Gay Hate

Pride in Plymouth promoting - Blow the Whistle on Gay HateHome secretary Alan Johnson has called on victims of gay hate crime to “blow the whistle” and report the abuse.

Speaking at an event in London on Wednesday (31 March), the home secretary launched Stonewall’s new ‘plain English’ guide for victims of gay hate crime that explains what homophobic crime is, why it should be reported and how to do so.

More than 100,000 copies of the Stonewall guide will be distributed in bars, clubs, student unions, police stations and Citizens Advice Bureaux. It is also available online at the Stonewall website.
